After many years of planning and hard work, the Western Isles MX club proudly opened their new MX track in September 2007.
Situated on the outskirts of Stornoway and built on open moorland next to the Lewis karting centre, this provides an ideal location, as it is close to the town for convenience yet without residential properties in close proximity, we avoid the noise pollution problem that restricts other motorsport venues.
The track is 1200 metres long and 5 metres wide and has been designed to suit all levels from our young juniors to the most experienced members on both solos and quads. The track has been designed as a bi-directional circuit, we race clockwise for half the day then anti- clockwise for the other half. This has 2 benefits, firstly it helps us maintain the track and secondly adds some variety to the practice.
At present there is 7 jumps on the track and these will be made higher and longer as time goes on.
The track is normally open every Saturday at 1pm, . Obviously opening is weather dependant. Check on the forum for track updates. Members of the public are more than welcome to come and watch.
